We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Who we are
Washington Tattoo is a private tattoo studio at 153 Regent St, Redfern NSW 2016, Australia. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Washington Tattoo. If you have any questions about your privacy, email us at support@washingtontattoo.com.au.
What we collect
We only collect the information we need. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:
- Contact details, such as your name, email address and phone number.
- VIP List details: your name and email address when you join the VIP List.
- Tattoo enquiry details you choose to share with us, such as your idea, reference images, placement and preferred dates.
- Order details if you buy from our online shop, such as your name, email, billing details and what you ordered. Card payments are handled by our payment providers. We do not see or store your full card details.
- Website usage information, such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit and how you found our site. This is collected through cookies and similar tools.
How we collect it
We collect information directly from you when you fill in a form on our website, join the VIP List, email or message us, follow or contact us on social media, or buy from our shop. We also collect some information automatically when you use our website, as explained in the cookies section below.
Why we use it
We use your information to:
- reply to your questions and enquiries;
- manage the VIP List and send you a welcome email, booking openings, last-minute availability and studio updates;
- plan and design your tattoo if you work with us;
- process and deliver orders from our shop;
- protect our website from spam and misuse;
- understand how people use our website so we can improve it;
- measure and improve our advertising; and
- meet our legal obligations.
The VIP List and our emails
When you join the VIP List, your name and email address are stored in a third-party email marketing service that we use to send our emails. You can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by emailing us. Joining the VIP List is free.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are needed for the site to work, for example to keep your shopping cart and to load pages quickly. Others help us understand and improve the site and our advertising. We use:
- Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use our website;
- Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram), to measure and improve our ads, including showing ads to people who have visited our site;
- Google reCAPTCHA, to protect our forms from spam. Its use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may not work properly without them. You can also manage how Google uses your data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and your ad preferences in your Facebook and Instagram account settings.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted providers that help us run our business, and only as needed. These include our website host, our email marketing service, our payment providers (PayPal and WooPayments), Google and Meta. We may also share information if the law requires it.
Information stored overseas
Some of the providers we use may store or process information outside Australia, for example in the United States. When this happens, we choose reputable providers that take privacy and security seriously.
How we keep it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as required by law, and then delete it or make it anonymous.
Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Just email us at support@washingtontattoo.com.au. We will reply within a reasonable time.
